Pamela Despain died January 23rd. Pam was born October 31, 1960 in Laramie, WY to Melvin Joseph Despain and Leota Billings Despain. She is survived by her mother Leota (Lee) of Longmont; brother David of Antioch, CA, brother Bryan (Robin) of Mosier, OR; a great-great aunt, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and one great niece and many wonderful and special friends. Her father preceded her in death in April, 2002. Visitation will be Friday, January 27 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Howe Mortuary followed by graveside services at 2:00 PM at Mountain View Cemetery, Longmont, CO. Memorial services will be Saturday, January 28 at 2:00 PM at the LDS Stake Center, 950 Laredo St., Aurora, CO. In lieu of flowers Pam requests donation s may be made to Colon Cancer Research or to Hospice Care of Boulder & Broomfield Counties. To share condolences www.howemortuary.com

Mark, Sorry to be bringing you this kind of news. I got a call tonight (1/23) from Mrs. Despain. She gave me the heartbreaking news that Pam died this morning. Pam had been diagnosed with colon cancer in March of 2010. She had undergone treatment and was doing well until this past fall. The cancer had spread to other organs and she went downhill very quickly. I believe Mrs. Despain said it was about a week ago that Pam's doctors told her she had about 5 weeks to live. That prognosis quickly changed to days, then hours. She was only in hospice for 1 day. Mrs. Despain, Brian, and David were all with Pam when she died. There will be an obituary in the Times-Call later this week. Lee told me that there would be a visitation this Friday (1/27) from 11:00 - 1:00 at Howe Mortuary, then a graveside service at 2:00 on Friday at Mountain View Cemetary. They plan on having a memorial at Pam's church in Aurora on Saturday, but they don't have the details yet.
