Douglas "Doug" Mitchell Wood

 

Douglas "Doug"Mitchell Wood of Alma, Kan., died Thursday April 6, 1995 in Wamego, Kan, He was 34

Born on March 26, 1961 in El Paso, Tesas, he was the son of the Rev. David R. Wood Sr. and Donna J. Wood.  He moved to Longmont when he was four years old and graduated from Niwot High School in 1979.

Mr. Wood was a certified nurses aide and medical aide. He worked at Alma Manor, Wamego City and Valley Vista Good Samaritan Home. He also served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at the 410 Evacuation Hospital in Ft. Riley, Kan., receiving an honoraable discharge after three years of service.

He belonged to the Episcopal Church. He loved music and played the trumpet for many years.He had lived in Alma since 1985.

Survivors include his family, Janet Runnebaum and children Bradley A. Runnebaum, Nicholas J. Wood and Elizabeth J. Runnebaum, all of Windsor, Colo; two David R. Wood of Ft. Collins, and Wendell B. Wood of Sedro-Wolley, Wash'two sisters, Kimberly Hopkins of Longmont and Kelly L. Shaw of Northglenn; his grandmothers, Alice J. Wood of Windsor and Betty J. Linville of Grand Junction; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at Gentry Funeral Home in Alma, Kan., with the Rev. David A. Wood Sr. officiating.
